How Can We Help You?
The Centre has a complementary therapies service. Appointments are available during the day, Monday to Friday, with limited availability in the evenings. The range of therapies varies.
Massage – This is a body treatment where a variety of different types of massage movements are performed on the client, with the client laying down on a couch or seated in a massage chair. Massage can be given with or without aromatherapy oils. Treatments can be relaxing or energising depending on the style of the massage.
Indian Head Massage – incorporates massage of head, the upper back, shoulders, neck, upper arms and face. The therapist uses a range of different massage pressure and technique to stimulate these areas of the body. It is believed that these are important energy centres in the body and by treating these areas the whole body can benefit, physically and emotionally. Treatments can be given seated or laying down on a massage couch. Use of oil is optional. Treatment can provide relief from tension and stress symptoms and induce a state of calm, peace and tranquillity and also improve levels of alertness and concentration.
Reflexology is massage of the feet that aims to promote wellness in other areas of the body. It is based on the principle that the foot has ‘reflex’ points that correspond to the various structures and organs throughout the body.
Emotional Freedom Technique - Women at the centre have found that EFT can support them in managing stress, responding to emotions and enabling them to make healthier choices. In your first session with your therapist you can expect to learn how to gently massage or tap on acupressure points. This can have a calming or balancing effect. Once you begin using the tapping technique, your therapist will be able to guide you gently through each session, talking and tapping. In your sessions, you will learn some ways to use EFT in your daily life. A skilled therapist will guide you through this process. Once the course is completed, these skills will be there for life. However, there are some aspects of EFT which always require the support and guidance of a skilled therapist.
Please note complementary therapies are only available to women who are accessing 1-1 support at the centre and can request to be referred to the service by their worker.
