What is Counselling & Psychotherapy?
Counselling & Psychotherapy offers you a safe and private space to explore the difficulties you are experiencing in your everyday life, whether these stem for your early childhood experiences or stressors you are experiencing in the here and now.
It’s an opportunity for you to explore some of the challenges you are facing and identify the changes that you would like to make. Counsellors and psychotherapists won’t offer you advice but will instead support you to find alternative coping strategies and different ways of thinking.
The team is made up of qualified and trainee therapists and counsellors, all of whom come from a wide range of backgrounds. We have a strict recruitment process that all of our therapists must go through to ensure that we are able to deliver a quality service.
We offer a range of different therapeutic options such as person-centred counselling, transactional analysis, CBT, integrative therapy and art therapy. We can discuss these different approaches with you more at your initial appointment to help you identify which therapy you will get the most from.
We also offer an at home service for those who are experiencing mild to moderate difficulties. The at home service consists of a computerised CBT programme, where you can make your way through a series of modules, using your computer. You will also get weekly check-in calls from a support worker.
Volunteer With Us (VOLUNTEERS)
The majority of our Counselling and Psychotherapy Team are made up of volunteers and we welcome expressions of interest from both qualified and trainee practitioners. We will run recruitment drives at different times throughout the year, depending on our service need.
We ask that therapists are able to commit to a minimum of 4 hours per week and attend 4 team meetings per year. In exchange we will be able to provide you with training and support and being part of a dynamic and experienced team. We are also able to provide a limited number of volunteers with free supervision.
